Whatever inspiration is, I didn't have it before. I had the opposite. What I did obtain that I do cherish but absent from any resume is the ability and frankness of accommodation.
"Angi, I need this copied and collated."
"Angi, transfer me downstairs."
"Angi, any messages? coffee ready?"
Sounds boring right? I won't lie to you it was. What I am talking about are the jobs you encounter while on your journey to where you feel inspired and important. Everybody has a favorite teacher or mentor - someone that helped them in their journey and I hope to embody those same characteristics as an Instructional Designer.
There is compassion and there is a way with words that paints a beautiful picture of a concept that can be successfully visualized by the trainee or, in other words, when something "clicks." To accomplish this through the many mediums afforded by Instructional Design - effective ELearning platforms, Flipped Classroom, Collaboration, Storyboards, ADDIE Model etc. is an accomplishment and a rewarding experience. To create consumer education, and product development, and marketing campaigns through these same means is what makes training and technology so exciting again. All of this to say, I want this blog to be a journalistic adaptation of the tools and resources, trends and challenges that are helpful to others in need of training others and illustrating concepts in this ever evolving, technologically-driven field.
